Jim Vincent

Author of the American Renewal Trilogy and The Democracy Clock.

Jim Vincent writes about democracy the way an engineer approaches a failing system: by asking what it was designed to do, where it broke, and what it would take to make it work. Drawing on five decades of civic engagement and a lifelong study of constitutional structure, his books trace how the foundational promises of American democracy have been rewritten, revoked, or sold — and set out, reform by reform, what must be done to restore them.

Before turning to writing full time, he spent a career solving problems in industry — leading technical teams at IBM and training and mentoring professionals across fields, with deep experience in systems architecture, education, and analysis. That background runs through his work: an insistence on logic and precision, and a conviction that knowledge should empower rather than intimidate.

His writing rejects both fear-mongering and false comfort. It treats readers as intelligent adults capable of hard truths and real solutions — offering not just a diagnosis of what is broken, but a blueprint for education, discussion, and above all action.

Published works: the American Renewal Series (American Renewal, American Restoration, American Redemption); The Trump Chronicles (The Seizure, The Patronage State, The Hardening); The Democracy Clock and its Event Log volumes; Essays on Tyranny; and The Quiet Habit of Giving. See all titles →
